Nite Tides and Kyle Cook of Matchbox 20 – “Falling Backwards”
-“When you’re falling backwards, just enjoy the ride.” Wow. That’s a lyric. There’s a real angst in this overly happy sounding song. I like the way the juxtaposition makes sense. It makes me think of trust falls that I used to do with friends back in the day. You know those trust building exercises you do at summer camp and fall with people catching you? Anyways, this track has a great mix of electric guitars with a pop rock energy and expressive, emotional lyrical vocal performance. The overall composition feels like a satisfying track that has elements of both alt and mainstream pop.
