Three indie pop tracks to bring some energy to this week

Wilderland – “Reflections”
-I love the effect on the vocal in this song. I don’t know the technical term for what’s happening here, but I know it’s not a sound that works for every song. It absolutely works here. Wilderland have a unique sound that feels partially folk sincere storytelling mixed with some intriguing indie pop style production choices. The end result is really magical. I like the pacing and the vibe of the song a great deal. It will be right at home on our indie pop playlist. I hope you’ll spin the track and check out our playlist as well.

Lucky Iris – “23”
-Okay if you have lived a bit of your life and have looked back to be a tad underwhelmed, this song is for you. It sure resonated with me and I’m a lot older than 23. That said, the song’s sentiment resonates for people of all ages. The moving energy of the track does a great job of allowing the lyrics to permeate the listener while giving that sense of “spinning out of control” that aging can sometimes feel like. There’s a dynamic energy to the song that we just don’t hear very often; it’s not a dance track or a chill track per se, but the song definitely takes elements of both styles and makes for a thought provoking song that’s as much meditation as motivation.

I Said Yes – “People you love”
-This is such a catchy song. I couldn’t, in good conscience, say no to this track. There’s something about the brightness that reminds me of the late 80s and early 90s music from when I was a kid. The melody bounces around nicely while the vocals feel comfortable and accessible. The lyrics are a bit more complex than the bopping joyfulness in the instrumentation, but even still it’s a song unlike anything you’ve ever heard before. I hope you’ll give it a spin as well.
