Three unique emerging artists in the Americana and alt country scene you’ll want for your playlists

Cat Clyde – “Everywhere I go”
-I’m not sure there’s been an artist featured on ETTG in recent memory that is a race for which co-editor will approve faster. I think both of us like Cat Clyde in equal measure. This track in particular has a nice blend of rock elements with some of the classic Americana stylings we’ve come to expect from Clyde. The combination feels timeless and fresh at the same time. There’s a likeability to the track that makes it feel like you’re at a block party or hoedown; it feels like a jam that you want to be a part of. Yet the lyrics are a bit dystopian and sad. I can safely say this is the kind of music that would make both Hank Williams and Johnny Cash equally proud. It’s authentic.

Kassi Valazza – “Corners”
-I appreciate the sincerity of Valazza’s vocal on this track. There’s a throwback country energy to this track that gives it a timeless quality. The classic instrumentation makes the song feel like it could have been written and recorded in the 1950s. There’s a lot of emotion and longing in the lyrics, much like one might expect from a classic artist like Loretta Lynn. Fans of traditional country music will find a lot to like from Kassi Valazza’s new track “Corners.”

Ryan McMahon – “Lost and found”
-If this is what pop music on the radio sounded like, I would listen to the radio again. McMahon brings a fun, light style with hat tips toward both country and throwback rock music. I keep thinking of bands like Needtobreathe and Green River Ordinance when I listen to McMahon’s style. The expressive vocal style brings a lot of energy to the track. The lyrical message is self-reflective about the need to make a change and move away from our habitual problems. It’s ultimately an encouraging song about making needed adjustments to find ourselves again in the midst of the chaos of life.
