Three emerging artists in the Americana and alt country scene that you need to have in your life

Bailee Barnett – “You’re everything”
-Well, this is a love song by a country artist about being a country singer who sings love songs. But it’s so good. The lyrics are accessible and sweet, the vocal is perfectly pure without being overwrought, and the overall vibe just feels real. That’s about the best thing I can say about a country music artist. If they’re real, then it works. It’s a great tune, great performance, and a fantastic vocal. I’m a new fan.

Bryant Switzky – “I’ll be where I am”
-Call it folk if you must, but this feels like Americana to me. Bryant Switzky has a unique blend of stringed instrumentation that brings forth connotations of the Old World and some of America’s most cosmopolitan locations. There’s an expressive emotionalism and even existentialism to this track. It’s not for the faint of heart of handclappy sentimentality of much pop folk music. This one is for the Beat Poetry readers. It’s got some substance and we’re happy to support it.

Brook St – “Rising sun”
-The percussive style of this track definitely gives it a special energy compared to a lot of tracks in Americana these days. I’ll tell you I like the opening, but once the harmonies start it goes from good to great. The string work on this track is really impressive, blending traditional instruments with more contemporary styling. It feels a bit like a Nickel Creek or even Lumineers type of songwriting. I genuinely think that fans of peak Nickel Creek will love this track and this rising Americana artist in Brook St. We’re certainly happy to support them here.
