Three magical indie pop tracks that will inspire your life this week

Magz – “For good”
-I love the atmospheric opening to this track… then Magz enters with a majestic vocal that takes the song from good to great. There’s a realization in the lyrics about being “misunderstood” by others, yet finally understanding yourself. The easy comparison for me is the incredible Maggie Rogers. The ethereal, atmospheric indie pop sound is extremely enjoyable to the ears. As someone who has spent a lifetime of trying to understand how he fits in this world (don’t we all?), the lyrics resonate in a deeply personal way.

Oleyada – “In the meantime”
-There’s a softness to this recording that feels absolutely perfect for indie pop. The overall composition style here flits through the air like a cloud. The punctuated vocal style makes the lyrics pop through that atmospheric composition. The combination is truly a unique sound, allowing the listener to connect with the energy. I doubt that Oleyada wrote this song for the pushing-40 suburban dad crowd, but I will shamelessly support this. I would imagine the core demographic is high school and college aged girls, but I’m still going to bump this tune. It’s vibey and perfect for a chill out indie pop playlist.

Michael Cappetto – “Where are you my love”
-The energy of this track is delightfully pop. This is the kind of pop that would have been successful at any time from the 70s to the present day. The full production style here feels like it was forged in the fires of the 1990s and perfected in the present decade. Cappetto has the perfect broad-appealing pop rock vocal style that soars over the instrumentation. The layers of synth and guitars make for a warm, candy-coated sweet style of rock music. If there was justice in this world, this song would shoot up the charts to be a top 40 pop track. It has that kind of timeless pop quality about it.
