Matt Kirk and The Güeyfarers – “Sleepy Little Summertime Town”
-Horns! Great lead vocal! A swinging rhythm section! And the coolest organ in town. This track grabbed my attention right away. The lyrical vibe of wanting to be with that special someone in a sleepy little summertime town resonates perfectly with the whole ethos of southern rock. For some reason, thinking about this sleepy southern town has a romance all its own. It’s a sound that feels like it could have been produced in the 70s, but has a freshness that is pure 21st century. I’m digging it for sure.
Howlin Sun – “Last time”
-If blues rock is your thing, give this track a spin. The comparisons to Lynrd Skynrd or Led Zeppelin are too easy to make with this song. The syrupy mix on the guitars and the expressive rock vocal over top make for a delightful sound. The guitar riffs, rich with reverb and swagger, give the track a throwback vibe in the best way. Vintage blues rock fans are going to absolutely fall in love with this new song from Howlin Sun.
