Regan Stewart – “Drop dead gorgeous”
-If you miss the old days of dirt-kickin’ tough ladies in country music, then take a spin with this Regan Stewart track. It’s full of all the vim and vigor of a woman defending her man from a threat. The steel guitar and Stewart’s vocals create a glimpse into a bygone era in country music. The clever songwriting, though, is what really reminds us all of the classic country music writing days. Was this one tested at the Bluebird? I don’t know. But if it was, I bet it brought a lot of smiles and thumbs up. This is classic country.
Robynn Shayne – “Devil you know”
-This is a heartbreak song. But, like so many good country songs, it’s not about wallowing in that heartbreak. It’s about having the resilience to rise above the bad circumstances. It is about domestic strife. There were songs like this by Tammy Wynette and Loretta Lynn back in the day. It’s nice to hear that someone is speaking for people who probably feel voiceless right now. Do us all a favor and share this one with some folks; it’s speaking a truth that honestly could save someone’s life.

Briscoe – “Dirty shoes”
-Some might call this more folk than “country,” but I think it’s right on that line in a good way. If this was the kind of music on country radio, I might tune in again. The track is dripping with authenticity and captures all of the delightful, fun things about the genre. If you’re looking for something to get your toes tapping and have you dreaming about drinking with a love interest… that’s country. I love the feel good energy and fun loving spirit of this one. Spin it, friends!
