This song hit me really hard. It’s about loss. It’s sweet and emotionally wrenching. I said it the first time I heard it and after many (many) plays, I can say that it still reminds me of George Jones’s iconic track, “He stopped loving her today.” The song isn’t clear (to me) if this is about the loss of a loved one through death or a breakup, but no matter the story behind it… this sweet, gorgeous, engaging song just might make you cry. Aimee Bayles’s vocal is exquisite.
I’m not sure if this is a country song stylistically, but it’s one of the best country songs I’ve heard in a decade.
