Three outstanding new acoustic singer songwriters to add to your collection

Ben Higginbotham – “Traveller”
-This is an outstanding track that literally hooked me right from the start. The guitar is outstanding and the vocal is transcendent. I don’t always feature the whispery vocal style, but this one works insanely well. It puts me in mind of the William Fitzsimmons and even Gregory Alan Isakov sound that so many of us adore. The unhurried quality of the composition makes it really stand out from the crowd as well. In a world with so many folk artists seemingly pursuing the hit parade, it’s lovely to spend some time with a track that takes its time on its journey. It feels like a song from a traveller, taking your time making your progress to get where you’re going… when you get there.

Wyke van Weelden – “Hear Me Out”
-The cathartic acoustic guitar on this song is worth its own track, honestly. But then you have this lovely vocal and sincere love song lyrical content. It’s a beautiful contribution to the indie folk corpus and we’re so happy to support it here. This is not a hand clappy folk tune; this is more of a dark poetic performance that will stop you cold in your tracks. Give it a spin if you’re looking for something sincerely emotional.

Jayson Andrew – “Hurricane”
-The rasp in Jayson Andrew’s vocal is just delightful. There’s a certain feeling of sincerity in the sound that puts a smile on my face with each listen. I am reminded of artists like Stu Larsen in the early 2000s that captured my attention in a similar way. If you started following this site because you like quality acoustic singer songwriters, you won’t do much better than this new track from Jayson Andrew. The overall performance is delightful, the lyrics are meaningful, and the guitar is excellent. This is definitely one to add to your chill acoustic playlist and enjoy every spin.
