Check It Out! A pair of brand new POP PUNK tracks for your consideration

Hana Lili – “Ur Girlfriend’s a Lawyer”
-I’m a sucker for a well produced pop punk track and this one definitely fits the bill. The lead vocal absolutely soars and the chords are vibrant. The sound does a great job of moving between dynamic loud, more aggressive sections followed by some carefully expressive quieter elements. The combination is that you’ll find yourself chair-dancing along with the beat (just me? surely not). I have to say the main melody is great and the chorus demands attention, but the bridge is some of the most innovative punk chord work I’ve heard in recent years. This is a HIT if we all share it with our million closest friends!

The Brothers Union – “Out of My Head”
-The guitar work on this track won me over right from first listen. Now, before you say it’s too slow to be a punk anthem… let me remind you that punk is about power chords and raw emotion, so in that regard I think this definitely fits. Besides that, after the opening section (call it an intro), the “maybe we’re on the road” transition moves along really well. The lyrical concept about fighting demons works well with an impressive soaring punk vocal. I can feel a whole crowd of people singing this at a punk rock venue or at a big time festival. There’s a lot of raw emotion and genuine energy in this recording that I absolutely appreciate. This one deserves to be widely shared!
