Sam Crooks – “After the Night”
-Typically we only feature brand new music, but this song from late 2023 popped up in our submissions and it was so good I couldn’t pass on it over a technicality. The mood of the track is largely determined by the quality of the acoustic guitar. The chord progression on this track is really satisfying. Fans of good acoustic harmonics will find a lot to like about the way the guitar sings out on this song. Once it picks up into more of a folk rock tune, it feels like it could have been recorded in the heyday of folk rock in the 1970s. I get comparison vibes of artists like Jackson Browne, George Harrison, and other practitioners of folk rock.
