SAMAH – “You Will Find”
-One of my proudest moments as a music blogger was writing about Mac Ayres right before his breakout. I feel similarly about the smooth soul vibes of SAMAH here. This track is incredibly clean in the groove, the vocal, and the overall vibe. It’s the kind of song that feels silly to write about; you just need to feel how good it is. If you’ve ever lost someone in a relationship, this song will definitely connect. It’s not so much a heartbreak song as it is a crooning, longing soulful expression of hope. It’s about coming back to say goodbye, which is something else entirely. Fans of D’Angelo and Mac Ayres should definitely put SAMAH on their short list. This is an excellent track.
My Mom Is Here – “The Lucky Dudes” (Radio Edit)
-If you happen to be a personal friend, then you’ve seen me sharing a lot of Vulf and Lawrence on my personal channels. Similarly, I’m a big fan of Lake Street Dive. This new track from My Mom Is Here deserves to be in the company of these other talented jazz-influenced pop music. This track has everything from clever lyrics to popping horns that really make the track stand out. I don’t really understand how this song has such timeless elements, but still feels brand new. It doesn’t sound like it’s trying to be vintage late 60s pop music; it feels like it was very much written for our moment. The lead chorus line “we are the lucky dudes” has a satisfying melody line that makes me smile and want to sing along every time. Give it a spin!
