LOVELOVELOVE – “Half-Life”
-I’ll say it right from the start… this is for fans of the sort of Adam Melchor and vaultboy style of folk-influenced pop that I’ve been covering for over a decade. I really enjoy this type of sad-boy pop music (and I don’t think any of these artists would mind that description). The emotional vulnerability here is so rarely heard in music, but I find it deeply rewarding. The groove on this track has elements of pop and rock, yet it’s really the folksy narrative that pulls the listener. The artist takes the listener on a journey into the subconscious, into the emotional core of the experience. There’s a dynamic to the layers in the background combined with some unique percussive rhythms that make the song feel almost hypnotic (in a good way). I definitely enjoy vibing out to music like this that, frankly, defies genre.
