Jordan Whitlock and Memory Spells – “No Surprises” (Radiohead Cover)
-From the moment I clicked play on this song, I was pretty much stopped in my tracks by the vocal. The overall energy of the song is almost oppressively slow… and it forces the listener to disengage from other aspects of life to engage with the song. I love that. The dynamics on the vocal are almost operatic in places, while being calm and endearing in others. As a listener, you really need to lean in at times and it just makes the song feel far more intimate than you would expect. The piano work is great, creating this space and energy for the vocal to really shine through. This was such a delightful hidden gem I really felt compelled to share it. I hope you all will enjoy as much as I do.
