Three new Americana tracks that bring in a wide range of influences for polished sounds

Andrew Beck – “Anywhere I’ll Go”
-If you’re a fan of chill acoustic guitar work, definitely give this track a spin. Andrew Beck has the type of rasp in his vocal that makes you believe he’s experienced what he’s singing about. I’ll be honest that one of my favorite parts of this song is actually the outstanding steel guitar. There’s even a stand up bass that sets the mood as well. It’s great to hear a song that sounds like it could have been written 50 years ago but is being released in 2024. Give it a shot! I bet you’ll like it if you enjoy traditional Americana music.

Taylor Lansdale – “Wrecking Ball Heart”
-I know the easy comparison here is Jason Isbell, so let’s go ahead and say that right away. Let’s also talk about how remarkable it is that anyone can be this close to an Isbell style of Americana. I appreciate how the guitar riffs are genuine and give a certain gravitas to the composition. The lyrics have that punctuated style to them like the Drive-By Truckers (and Isbell’s solo work as well). You can tell Lansdale has been influenced by southern rock and country music, coming together for a sound that feels authentic. It’s a love song that feels like part confession and part warning. It works.

Basset – “Sail On”
-It’s not every day that I hear bluegrass that’s so clean I just stop in my tracks to listen, but that happened with this track. Good heavens this is a great tune. Basset have a smooth picking style that definitely soothes the listener and pulls us in, but then the vocal is outstanding as well. The combination is really wonderful. It’s clear that the lyrics have this message of perseverance despite life’s trials. It’s a message of hope, a wish for better things for someone dear. It’s a delightful track that highlights one of Americana’s finest subgenres.
