Three engaging indie pop tracks that show some of those tasty folk influences

Brad Wilson – “You and I”
-This is such an endearing song that I’m pretty sure I approved it in the first 20 seconds. The lead vocal is unbelievably smooth and well delivered. The lyrical message is quite sweet as well; it’s about falling in love. I appreciate how the main melody feels like a timeless folk pop song. Some of the backing elements bounce around from atmospheric to contemporary alt forms, but it all works together for a really wholesome and engaging sound.

Wise John – “standing in sunlight”
-The first track I heard by Wise John absolutely floored me (in a good way), so when I saw this new track in the submission stack I had a positive bias… and honestly it lived up to my high expectations. The opening is really good, with this lyrical message about not knowing what love means. But if you stay with the track until the full band enters, there’s this sonic boost that is really satisfying to the ear. In a lot of ways, Wise John’s composition style reminds me of everything I love about Adam Melchor. They’re occupying a very similar space in folk-influenced indie pop. Honestly… this is a good song and then the organ enters making it absolutely magical. I’ll be spinning this one in my own personal playlists… and y’all should too!

The Satellite Station – “Reveries”
-We covered The Satellite Station several times in the past, so it’s nice to have this act back on the site. This track definitely stands on its own. I love the layered vocals and the way the harmonies resonate throughout the track. The vocals are the standout aspect of this engaging track. If you’re a fan of vocal harmonies and good folk music (hi we should be friends!), then this track is definitely going to resonate with you. The vintage production elements (especially with the percussion and layered vocals) make it feel like a timeless song even though it’s brand new. Give it a spin!
