Three outstanding indie rock tracks to add to your upbeat playlist

Everyday Dogs – “Coworkers”
-I don’t always approve a song because of the chorus, but this one definitely was in that category. There’s a chromatic chord change and some fantastic harmonies that really make it pop. I’m not even sure what subgenre to call the track. It’s definitely indie rock but does it have shades of pop punk? Also yes. Yet no matter how I slice it, I keep thinking of the late 90s and early 2000s era of pop rock (you know… stuff that would show up on Total Request Live). Everyday Dogs has that pop rock quality interspersed with elements of grungier alt rock overtones at times. Just spin it, y’all. Definitely a unique sound.

Herschel’s Map – “Sofia”
-I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again… a song titled with a woman’s name is either a love song or a heartbreak song. There’s no middle ground. There’s a snazzy, impactful style on this track. The electric guitar work is really good. The vocal is really well mixed, putting it right in the pocket of the track. I appreciate that the more experimental effects in the background create depth without distracting from the vocal or the main melodic line. This is definitely atmospheric rock in the vein of artists like Coldplay that’s sure to appeal to a wide range of our readers.

Of Vizions – “BALLAD FOR THE DREAMERS”
-I just sent this track to a friend and said, “I think this song is a time machine.” He’s a college buddy… that I haven’t seen in 20 years. This song could have released when we were in college. It has pop punk elements throughout. The soaring vocal style is absolutely amazing! The production mix on the vocal harmonies in the background on the chorus are the exact type of music meant for a crowd of people at a punk show to yell at the top of their lungs. The lyrics are about dreaming of your future, so it’s definitely a song with connotations for college aged folks with their lives ahead of them. And, if readers are anything like me, regardless of age, there’s a little piece inside of you that still dreams these types of wildly ambitious dreams. Never stop.
