Aymee Weir – “Billboards”
-Everything about this song feels like the moniker “alt.” The chords are a bit unsettling in the best way possible. Weir has a beautiful voice that feels intentionally limited in some places. The song seems to creep and meander through the crevices, just below the surface. The delicate harmonies on the chorus are not the rich, poppy harmonies found on the top 40. These are unconventional harmonies that crawl under your skin and make you feel something. The language is avant garde, invoking a desire to turn over a new leaf and be a new person for a new relationship. Stylistically and lyrically it feels like an intentional change in direction.
