Stevie Rae Stephens – “Forget You”
-We don’t often feature a commercial pop sounding track, so when we do it’s because it’s really good. Stevie Rae Stephens has a full vocal sound that really stands out from the crowd. The delicate harmonies on the soaring chorus makes for a wonderful characteristic sound. There’s a soulful energy to the recording that feels familiar in an Adele or Amy Winehouse sense, yet the overall vibe of the track feels a bit lighter than typical Winehouse style. Stephens has some great jazzy runs and an expert use of dynamics to convey the emotions of the song. Give it a spin, for sure!
