Blonde Bones – “Bad Dreams”
Happy official start of summer! We cannot think of a better way to kick off the warm season than with this perfect track. “Bad Dreams” has a cool indie sound and an incredible croon to match. This is one of our favorite new finds recently and those unfamiliar with this act will be thoroughly impressed with their ability to weave a tapestry of instruments and genres without feeling crowded. Blonde Bones are an act due for a continued rise this summer.
Birds with Teeth – “Gambler”
We were struck immediately with the smooth jazzy sound of Birds with Teeth. It reminded us of two of our favorite acts: As Tall As Lions and Minus the Bear. The way they lead with their bass and let the track breathe are just two of the similarities but it is more than that. “Gambler” is inspired by the gambling addiction of the lead singer and the fallout due to it. It is a beauty of a track and perfect for a summer night drive.
Bocce – “Good For You”
We like the dark leaning of this LA rock act. Their sound has elements of ’90’s indie rock with harder elements a la Nine Inch Nails. The lead singer has a great talent of both calming the near combustible sound as well as giving it a near menace. The band is a refreshing paradox of style and art and we are here for every single moment of it. They recently released a full length album that is definitely a must-hear.
