Three indie folk duo artists who remind you why you love folk music

Hello Darling – “First to last”
-If you’re looking for the type of folk music that will lull your spirit and make you think all at the time, check out this captivating new track from Hello Darling. I’m sure I’m not the first (or last) person to compare them to the iconic folk duo the Civil Wars. The vocal harmonies from this duo are sure to stop a lot of folks right in their tracks. The brilliance of the songwriting comes through with every carefully crafted lyrical line. It’s a beautiful style of modern folk music that we’re certain will find a following amongst our readership.

Alexandra and Josh – “Shelter Me”
-If you’re looking for a calming folk acoustic style, you’ll find a lot to like with Alexandra and Josh. This was one of those submissions that really snuck up on me. I had never heard of these two brilliant artists, but as soon as I clicked “play” on them I was immediately awakened. The overall style is breathtaking. Both vocalists are talented on their own, but together the blending is really something special. The lyrics are about surrendering to one another as a way of being stronger. In a selfish world, this is a beautifully countercultural message sung by two incredible artists.

Harrison Storm and Enna Blake – “Under dusk”
-There’s an atmospheric energy to this track that feels deeply poetic. The vocals connect in some very visceral ways on this track. It only takes one listen to feel the magic emerge from this one. The tender vocal mix on this track shows a connection between the two artists rather than studio magic. The production mix is really brilliant as well, allowing this conventional acoustic mix to feel like it rises above the sum of its parts. The song has intimate lyrics about desiring to see someone as they really are. It’s poetic, atmospheric, and an incredible listening experience from first to last chord.
