Three new singer songwriters for your weekend playlist

Peter Stone – “Atlantic”
-There’s a relaxing energy to this composition that immediately stands out to me. It’s clear that the songwriter Peter Stone brings a calming sense to his composition from guitar to vocal. The easy going energy works really well from start to finish. Something about the track feels like a journey. It’s a charming piece of acoustic songwriting and is well worth your consideration.

Birdtalker – “I know”
-The rising energy of this track reminds me of some of the best indie folk we’ve had a chance to feature in the past decade. The recording energy is perfectly balanced between atmospheric guitars, soaring vocals, and a proudly percussive sensibility. It makes the listener want to join in on the song, one of the old hallmarks of the genre. It really feels like a “people’s song” that encourages handclapping and singing along. The lyrics are poetic and the composition demands participation. This one just feels so darn good!

Josh Washam – “Don’t cost nothin”
-From the first time I heard this song, I thought that I wish I could share this song with John Prine. It’s been a long year and a half without him, I’ll say. But writers like Washam remind me that all is not lost. The plainspoken wisdom of the song feels really good and comfortable. It don’t cost nothin to write a song or hold a hand. It’s just… incredibly well written folk music. This one reminds me why I love folksy Americana music so much. I’d love to be in the bar when these fellas start singing this one. It’s a gem.
