You’re REALLY Going to Love These Acts

Matthew McNeal – “Texas Heat”

There is a smooth groove to “Texas Heat”. We cannot get enough of the slowed down and intentional sound of one of our recent faves. McNeal has surprised us with his mix of genre and style, while honing a songwriting craft that is as sharp as it is compelling. This is a perfect setting sun road trip to nowhere in particular, sort of track. If you dig this, and you certainly will, check out his back catalogue.

Whiskerman – “Westside”

The double sharpened edge of the style of Whiskerman is not lost on us. While crafting a fine sound, blending soul and funk, the act have an incredible social conscience. Lyrically, the track is deep and vivid. If one was to make a soundtrack to the end of the world, then look no further than to “Westside”. Sure, one could simply feel the groove and ignore the lyrics, but once the listener is awoken to this, it is difficult not to fully engage. This act is talented and incredibly tight. We look forward to hearing more.

Mr.Kite (Jacob Beckwith) – “Loner 77”

Readers may recognize this artist from a piece we put out last week. His diverse sound makes us eager to hear and share more. “Loner 77” is a grunge rock tinged piece of angsty goodness. Beckwith shares exasperated vocals over a enflamed guitar part. Yes, we hear the Nirvana influence to this, but it also feels modern, a nod to those the artist admires. We feel that if this track went any longer, either the set or the artist would have combusted. We are here for all of it.
