“Don’t tell me stories, I’ll write songs about them” states growingly prolific songwriter Lauran Hibberd. The storyteller is beginning to hit her musical stride, while releasing some of the most catchy and compelling singles we have heard recently. Various media outlets have recently come around to her exceptional talent. With a talent for both storytelling and sound, Hibberd is due for increased praise.
As a songwriter, we are continually amazed at how she weaves captivatingly humorous tales while still dynamically constructing a grungy L7/Breeders sound. Her new single “Hoochie” is a perfect example of what Lauran Hibberd does so terrifically well.
