Whyte Tygers – “Don’t Hesitate”
-The feel good vibes of this track are just more than I can bear. It’s a song that will have you oohing and ahhing with it on first listen. It’s about the need to take life seriously enough to not make mistakes, but not so seriously that we lack fun. It’s a sort of modern day “carpe diem” anthem. Good stuff!
Brave Holiday – “Fight for it”
-If inspiring anthems are your bag, you have to give this track a spin. It’s really the kind of track that will have you ready to march for something. It’s about going beyond yourself to find a greater purpose to your life. The gang vocal on it will have you singing (and clapping) along in no time. It’s so powerful!
Jack Symes – “Cool God”
-If you’re new to the site, you might not realize that the co-editors know each other through church so discussions of music and theology are really common for us. When we run across something like this, it seriously can take over a conversation. What I love about this song is that it is, in effect, a prayer. Yet it doesn’t carry the liturgical weight of other styles, even though the existential questions here are as old as humanity. “Don’t you trust me, man?” Clever.
Imbibe – “Touchdown”
-The energy of this track is exciting. Equal parts disco and pop rock, the song will get you clapping and singing along. Even if you don’t like American football, it’s a fun song. (That’s a joke. This is about a plane touching down, not a scoring play.) No need to worry the way the world is spinning you… or how loud you clap and sing along. Just… keep grandma’s dance moves to a minimum.
thanks. – “HYHU”
-The repeated lyric “hold your head up” will answer your first question about the title. Now, the next question is, what the heck is this? It’s a fun, engaging kind of indie pop rock. It might not have a singable hook like others on this playlist, but I bet it’s pumping you up to get out there and make a difference. It’s definitely a motivational track.
