While we devote the majority of our coverage to emerging artists, their are still bigger acts we love, respect, and capture the spirit our site strives to embody. We have a pretty solid collection of artists here for you to enjoy, with at least a few names you will recognize. And if not, then we are glad to break them for you.
Guster – “Hard Times”
The beloved act are back and better than ever. What always separated Guster from their peers is their tight chemistry and unique approach to a track. On “Hard Times”, the band is explorative, favoring an almost dark wave sound while crafting their trademark vocals in and out of a hazy atmospheric vibe. There are few bands who are as endearing and creative as Guster. With their new tracks, the band just continues to build on its impressive legacy.

The Aces – “The Last One”
Since releasing their impressive debut album in the Spring, the Utah act have been tirelessly touring. While currently supporting pop act Five Seconds of Summer, the band are incredibly talented as crafting pop laced but folk honest indie jams. They creatively can bring different fans of staunch genres together in a way few can. Their songwriting is incredible and a benefit of impeccable band chemistry. “Doing something obvious for the song felt very vanilla to us, so when Alisa was writing the treatment we decided to go in a much more literal direction to define what The Last One means,” explains the band. “The song is about being addicted to someone that’s taking over your life and it’s killing you, but instead of a person we wanted to use a poignant symbol that embodies addiction.”

Jade Bird – “Uh Huh”
Holy hell is this good! We are totally blown away at the vocals of Bird as well as her ability to completely own a room. The video here beautifully shows her live presence with a nod to the past. Vocally she could fit right in with different musical renaissances in Detroit, Nashville, or Austin. Yet, the UK singer songwriter is uniquely her own musical entity and power. There is much to love about her EP Somewhere American, but we believe her best work is ahead of her. One listen to “Uh Huh” or “Lottery” will undoubtedly make you a staunch believer.

Albert Hammond Jr. “Far Away Truths”
We have seen a swell of bands who are influenced by The Strokes recently. We strongly believe their influence will be felt for years to come. Their guitarist, Albert Hammond Jr., has slowly shown his own unmistakable charm and ability to front his own successful and influential act. The colors and feel of the video show his uncanny ability to blend styles and genres in a fresh way. His new work is some of his best and we think you will agree.

Bishop Briggs – “Baby”
The songwriter has blown up in indie and pop circles with infectious singles like “River” and “Wild Horses”. Her new single comes on the heels of a successful album release and tour, which included stops on some of the biggest festival bills. “My new single, ‘Baby’ is about my love life,” explains the artist. “I am learning that in order to love someone else you have to love yourself. I feel that imperfections have a way of really showing you who someone is. This song is cheeky and light and it has left me feeling more liberated than ever. I hope you like hearing about conversations I normally have in private with my friends!” There is no sign of her slowing down this year as she continues to take over the musical world.
