Artist Spotlight: Alison May–pastel textured smoke tones

Alison May has a seismically unique sound full of textures and layers.  At one point while I was listening to her latest “Dusk Interval” EP, I accidentally turned on Hauschka and it stayed on in the background without me noticing for a long time.  Blended perfectly into the layers of acoustic rhythms that carry the musician’s soft blue voice.  Alison May has been releasing music in abundance over the last two years and the quality, the softness, the pastel tones, and memories cannot be matched.  Listening to this EP sounds like dusk falling by the creek in the forest where I grew up.  The sky is streaked with greys and purples, fireflies begin to illuminate the patterns in the bark of the trees, moths dance clumsily around looking for light.
