This week I found out the name for a thing that I had no idea had a name- uke-punk.  As in punk ukulele.  If you’re a fan of Garfunkel and Oates, you’ve heard uke-punk and probably never even known what you were listening to (much the way I never knew what I was listening to when Garfunkel and Oates came on).   It’s that happy-go-lucky sound that makes you smile even when the topic is fear, and this album has it going on.  Well done, and a plain pleasure to listen to, this album combines the infectious strum of the ukulele with sometimes miserable discussion of fear, angst, and nothingness.

Go, listen, and have a little existential crisis for the start of the week.

Oh, and Flower the Skunk is from just across the way in Youngstown, Ohio, to boot, so you know it’s good.

Tracks: Human Petting Zoo – Nihilism Isn’t My Cup of Tea, I’m Afraid, Listen to Me, Beetles & Snakes; Flower the Skunk – Say So or Not, Always, Calling Me, Tales of Social Anxiety
