Ben Harper and Charlie Musselwhite – I Don’t Believe a Word You Say

Not up and coming by any stretch, but Ben Harper has become one of the most prolific artists of our generation relatively quietly. He’s also become the Carlos Santana of our generation, beginning as a solo artist and gradually becoming a professional collaborator in the best sense possible. Ask The Innocent Criminals, The Blind Boys of Alabama, The Relentless 7, Ringo Starr, and Dhani Harrison (George’s son). His most recent album features Charlie Musselwhite, an incredible blues-harmonica player whose first album dates back to 1967. It’s a nearly perfect fit and the album is a joy. Here’s “I Don’t Believe A Word You Say”, a bitter break up track from the album that features Harper’s awesome guitar style and Musselwhite’s incredible harmonica skills.
